Education

Education is the process of aquiring of knowledge and understanding and these is acquired through studying and training. As we see worldwide more and more people are becoming more and more aware of the importance of Education.
Recently i read through Maulana Wahidudeen Khan Importance of Education and this is what he said, (The importance of education is quite clear. Education is the knowledge of putting one's potentials to maximum use. One can safely say that a human being is not in the proper sense till he is educated.
This importance of education is basically for two reasons. The first is that the training of a human mind is not complete without education. Education makes man a right thinker. It tells man how to think and how to make decision.
The second reason for the importance of education is that only through the attainment of education, man is enabled to receive information from the external world; to acquaint himself with past history and receive all necessary information regarding the present. Without education, man is as though in a closed room and with education he finds himself in a room with all its windows open towards outside world
).

Technology has really changed the way of Education as it used to be. I will say that it has changed it for both, the better and the worse.

Better
  • Kids do not have to spend a lot of time doing tedious tasks
    Graphing parabolas
  • Concepts can be brought to life
    3-D computer modeling
  • Information can be accessed in a faster amount of time
  • In Math:
With graphing calculators students can, “Do more”
    In Physics:
Can have new labs that model motion, waves, etc…
    In English:
    Student can write more
  • There is a lot more data available at people’s fingertips.
  • Students can take classes from remote sites. They don’t have to miss out on educational opportunities because of living in a remote area.
  • Allows students quick access to information.
  • Brings authentic experiences to the classroom, such as the use of telecommunications devices to create a virtual field trip to a zoo or a museum that would otherwise be impossible.

Worse

  • Kids cannot deal with fractions without using a calculator.
  • Not all information is factual.
  • Student rely too much on the technology, such as spell checkers.
  • Sometimes technology is thrown into the curriculum, just because it is new technology, which may impede the learning process.
  • whole field of technology critics has been created as a result of bringing technology into the schools.
Even though there are some negatives due to the increase of technology use in education, the positive benefits far outweigh any negative side effects. So i think the constant use and introduction of technology resources in Education is very important not only in school but also outside school as to keep up with the technology increase in the society. So what do you think of education with the increase of technology in it?

Well Nooraldaim..! Education is very important for everyone. It’s make the person to think in a right way and do there work successfully. Where ever you go you must need the knowledge about the place, people and the language for this you must learn the right thinks. Educations are not only about read the books and passing the exams it is also involved with the general knowledge. I’ve seen some people who can study well but they don’t have the general knowledge and some people are other way round. Education will help the people who like to learn.

Education is a backbone for nation.Without education no one can prosper in their life.As Sri mention that education is not only limited in books it also involved with general knowledge.

Investment in higher education provides significant dividends for graduates who reap the many social and financial rewards that a degree offers. But a new report shows that financial support for postsecondary education also pays off in ways that reach far beyond individual achievement to affect all of society.

Entire communities and the nation as a whole benefit from greater higher-education access — thanks to higher tax revenues, less unemployment, greater productivity, reduced reliance on public assistance, increased consumption, greater civic participation, less crime, and better quality of health, civic life and social cohesion.

Actually both of this (technology and education) is very important and yes, it is like what you write in your article. Advance technology give bad and good impact for any sector especially in education sector, such as nowadays students can get the information not only from their lecture but they also can find form many source through internet.
Therefore in my opinion with more advance technology this day, education also grown rapidly because people get information easily and so on.

Well, let me give my comment based on my own thoughts and tacit knowledge. To me technology has the great motivation to follow up the day to day’s news, scientific articles related to my previous field of study, political and economical issues. Briefly it has led my mind sets to the gradual improvement in the sense of “kaizen” the Japanese term of continuous improvement!!! I know my self. I’m not the boy of library and I do prefer to read the articles via the cyber environment or “internet” and I do believe that as long as I’m learning and getting one step in front I’m safe and I have gained knowledge regardless on side the affects of it. We all must know that our generation is known as the “Y” generation in the psychological term, so gaining knowledge in any way which is more appropriate for us is worthy and there is no need to bother what the past generations have done or how they used to educate them selves.

Education with the increase of technology. I totally agree that education increases with the innovation of technology each time. Let us look at today’s world. I do not need to buy a newspaper to read one. I need not buy a book from the bookstore. I need not have to play games in the arcade. Humankind found invented something that is called the INTERNET.
I have its pros and cons I do not deny it but if we do not start growing from somewhere, where and when are we going to grow? Look at the past generation where they never did need computer to study. Compare to us now, even doing this blog, we need the computer. Not only the computer but the internet. Wouldn’t you call this better education? Adding to this, far distance education is also growing slowly in the market.

A quote from Ariel and Will Durant:Education is the transmission of civilization. Education brings a large impact in our life today without knowledge or the importance of it , civilization that are here today and may have not exist if education wasn't in the picture , i agree with srikanth that education is very important but educations are not only about reading books or passing exams , is about using your imagination and creativity to solve problems and apply it in the real world.

Education is not about passing your exams and having distinctions. It's about developing your educational faculty.Technology helps the education process. But today, people focus more on the technological process that it has actually made students very lazy. Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? These questions need serious answers, if not we'd reduce the usage and capabilities of our natural brain performances.

As Maulana Wahidudeen Khan said; 'The importance of education is that only through the attainment of education, man is enabled to receive information from the external world; to acquaint himself with past history and receive all necessary information regarding the present.'Therefore Brad,I think we should know what the past generations have done in order to improve! How do you think all this high technologies came about in the generation now??Of course from the past Scientists that make research WITHOUT the technology that we have now.According to Noraldaem's question,I think that with the technologies that we have now, it does help us a lot to have an efficient and effective education today.

Well, everything that it is GOOD,surely have the BAD.It is all depend on how we implement or use the technologies in our daily life.

Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.
Inappropriately used in the classroom, technology can be used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning. Students can be "plugged into computers" to do drill and practice that is not so different from workbooks. Teachers can use multimedia technology to give more colorful, stimulating lectures. Both of these have their place, but such use does not begin to tap the power of these new tools.

Yes, Noor I agree that technology in is very important, regardless to its disadvantages. Technological achievements in the modern world are not only the convenience for the people around the globe, but also an incentive for the younger generations to review and develop their own thinking and ideas to advance the technology even further.
It is very important that every education, may it be from the lower primary to the PhD level should all include the trace of technology in the process according to the level most suitable.
One of the basic technological educations provided to students from the early primary stages is that of the computer sciences, which is in fact the soul of every other technology in the world. Some universities include the theoretical study of the computation and analyzing techniques and then promoting them to also practically understand their research and ideas. Computer programming is another basic level of teaching in every academic institution, so that the new generation can live up to the highly demanding technological world.
Even in any general education class, or activity the use of the technology is highly encouraged for a better understanding and wider approach of the students from their very initial learning years. The implementation of slideshows, computer research, and the involvement of latest gadgets and devices in the science subjects prepares the students for their upcoming challenge of living up to the expectations of the modern world solely dependant on technology.
Gone are the days when even the simplest data was recorded in a register manually in any business firm, may it be a multinational company or a small shop. The data is now entered in the computer which automatically sums up the total to give the bill. With this kind of lifestyle, if the children are not exposed to the technologies and their use, the generation will lag in the coming years and not be able to cope up and even help the promotion of technology brought this far by the modern world.

There have no alternatives of education and we all know that. Education is backbone of nation. There has a phrase “an educated enemy is better than uneducated friend”. To improve a nation education is plays the most important role. Technology in education is also important and it helps a lot to the student to learn. For technology we can get information through internet easily and we can learn many unknown things.
